CHARACTER NAME: Cormag
SERIES: Cormag at the Fire Emblem Wiki and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones at the Fire Emblem Wiki
CANON POINT: Chapter 15 (Eirika's Route)
APPEARANCE: Here!
PERSONALITY: One look at Cormag, and you're going to see that he's a tough, sturdy, and rather scary looking man. A lot of this actually rings true, if you so happen to find him on the battlefield. He is a ferocious and deadly warrior of tremendous skill. He had been raised to be a soldier since he was little, it's only natural that he would be powerful and commanding on the battlefield. He's a soldier, which means that he realizes that he has duty and responsibility that comes along with the job. Meaning that he sticks with duty and responsibility as some fairly important values to him.

They only fall short of his moral code and great personal sense of justice. For a soldier, questioning what you are told is not seen, less you want to be branded a traitor. Yet it's something that Cormag does, having seen from the beginning that this war was rather foolish and completely unnecessary. He and Glen had always seen it that way, yet they decided to carry out their duties like they properly should. After all, the job is a job- and jobs aren't always pleasant. Eventually, him being lead to do what was right completely shattered his sense of duty and he joined the opposing army.

When you look at him, it's not hard to understand why he would have possibly defected from his country. Yes, he was a soldier, yes, they're who he served. It's a question of doing wrong or right, and when he looked at the country he loved? It didn't look right. He's a man who has a tremendous amount of respect for not a lot of things, but for when he does? It certainly counts. He has pride and devotion to his country, and that's why he left, for the best actions were to stop this stupid war. It's shown on how many people offer to have him join their respective armies. He politely refuses though. He's stuck with one country for his life so far, and he wouldn't change it very soon. All that he wants to see is his homeland returned to its former glory and splendour. In many support conversations he's musing of him and a group of other Grado soldiers being one the ones to reform the land.

Respect is also seen through with how he treats people. His brother, Glen, had always been with him. Cormag had a deep connection with him, and looked up to him in many ways. The king had taken him in and gave him a huge opportunity, thus being looked up to as well. People of great status and those who had helped him always had his complete trust. Compared to those who didn't- they found themselves on the wrong end of his Lance. Cormag promises the murderer of his brother that they will have a slow and painful death by his hand. He was hellbent on revenge and finding out who it was, showing how loyal and dedicated he really was to his brother. As with every other person, how you treat them is going to have a huge impact on how they treat you.

Harsh, rough, and downright brutal at times, it isn't to say that he's always like this. No, should you find the window to his soul, you'll find a rather gentle man. It's probable that he can be misunderstood if given the chance. It's just that he cares, he cares about a lot of things but it isn't always easy to express that. When you see a soldier, are you really going to think about how he truly has bundles of pride into his thoughts and beliefs? No, you're going to think of him as nothing but a killing machine, a tool and servant of war. He's far from it though. He even brings a cleric a kitten in hopes that she would heal it, showing a completely different side to him while starting a new friendship.

Looking at the social standpoint, he can be rough and critical with his words at times. However, unlike the average person of his time, he's rather respectful and polite when it comes to conversation. People are often addressed by title, for that's what a proper knight does. Although, he prefers that people drop the honorifics when they are around him. It takes a certain sort of humility to do this. Soldiers are expendable, but the nobility aren't, as he'd say. He often only talks to other people specifically if he has some sort of important business to attend to, or if they're extremely close. Many people have to strike conversation with him first, but it isn't hard to keep it going.

In short, he's a rough man on the outside, but a kind man on the inside. He holds his beliefs high, and isn't afraid to tell you if he disagrees with it. He isn't quite forthcoming, preferring his distance. There's a reason why he's been called an aloof lanceman.

ABILITIES: The extent of Cormag's abilities in canon was the fact that he was trained for war starting at a young age. He has general physical training, which makes him incredibly athletic for his age. At seventeen, he's been trained specifically so that he can ride a mount, in his case a Wyvern. This makes him really well adjusted for flying in the sky, and fast speeds in general.

The other think that really sets him apart from most people his age is his use of the javelin, or any sort of spear. Although his attacks aren't nearly as well refined as they are in the air, he's certainly nobody to mess with even when he has two feet firmly planted on the ground. He has had the soldier's training for the situation that he would need to fight on the ground. He can also throw a javelin pretty far to boot.

POSSESSIONS: Nothing.

SHADOW: The main things that dwell in Cormag's mind are related to the war. There's the fact that he couldn't do anything in his power to actually prevent it from happening, that his brother was completely murdered in cold blood, and that he ended up breaking his vows and joining the opposing army. The latter is the one that stays at the forefront of his mind for most of the time you see him in the game. Many people actually ask him to join their respective armies after the war, but he usually declines them, or doesn't give an answer because of it.

In essence, there's a large part that hates himself because he finds that he was dishonourable. How can he call himself a proud knight, or even have any sort of pride in his country when he so obviously betrayed it? - Although what he thinks what he did had good intentions, there's no denying that joining the other army means that he betrayed everything that he had gone through beforehand with his brother. He can call himself a knight of Grado all he wants, but he doesn't take as much pride in it like he used to.

So his Shadow talks about how weak he thinks he is. If he really had strong character he would have stuck with his country, if he had actual strength he would have been able to protect his brother from his death. It hits him hard, because he isn't able to take pride in the one thing that he really has, which is his strength on the battlefield as a soldier in his country.

So his shadow shows how weak he seems to think he is, while highlighting some of his more traitorous traits. The weakest of his time period were the peasants, or the brigands who simply didn't have any other means of getting money. So to accompany the iconic yellow eyes, Cormag is dressed in ratty, peasant clothing. He's weaker than the people that he was supposed to be fighting for. His hands will also be bound in shackles, as a true traitor should be a prisoner of the lord that he just went against.

PERSONA: Cuélebre is a mythological giant winged serpent-dragon of the Asturian and Cantabrian regions of Spain, that lives in a cave.

PERSONA ACQUISTION: Facing their shadow in the tv world sounds good. Cormag would be able to accept his shadow self (although obviously not immediately, but it isn't a huge internal conflict that he would be too afraid of facing.)

FIRST PERSON ACTION, JOURNAL, OR PHONE SAMPLE: Here!

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:

They had asked him to buy something.

Well, they didn't really ask. It was more that they yelled at him. Apparently he wasn't ready with what he needed for his instruction. Not that he really knew, but it certainly didn't give the teacher a very good impression of him. After questioning his classmates he learned where he could find such a device. Junes stocks a wide variety of them, and if he could help it he didn't want to be disciplined in such a manner again. He didn't really want to go back, but it was expected of him so he didn't have much of a choice. He can't disobey the law.

“Hi, have a great stay at Junes!” Cormag was greeted at the door. The girl was bubbly, far too much for a job as repetitive as hers. He paid her no attention and kept walking. He was a man on a mission, and she wasn't important for it. He was positive that he could find what he needed on his own. It couldn't be harder than the average market place back home-

Yet he couldn't be more wrong. He couldn't find it anywhere. This place was too huge for it's own good. How was anybody supposed to find something here? It doesn't make sense. It didn't help that he'd find something to get distracted with every once and a while, like those free food samples. When he finally did find what he needed, he just stared in shock at the wall. There were so many of them. That's when he realized when he made a huge mistake.

He didn't ask what kind of calculator he needed.
